Day Passes

Day Passes are designed for those who have experience with clay, as a Hand Builder, Sculpture or Wheel Thrower.  We love beginners, however, learning to throw on the wheel, or learning to hand build, can not be done in one class secession.  It is best to enroll in a class or discuss private lessons.

All Day Passes are valid for one year from date of purchase. You will need to purchase clay and glaze from our onsite retail store as no outside clay is permitted in the studio. If you want your work fired, we suggest you purchase at least 2 passes at a time so that your work can be bisque fired after day 1 and ready for glazing on day 2.

Raku Firing

When most potters in the West think of raku firing, they think of what should technically be referred to as "American" or "Western" raku: a process in which work is removed from the kiln at bright red heat and subjected to post-firing reduction (or smoking) by being placed in containers of combustible materials, which blackens raw clay and causes crazing in the glaze surface. This Western raku firing process has a huge draw for many potters because of its excitement and unpredictability.

Clay Arts Vegas hosts a Second Saturday Raku and pot luck monthly.  Cost for firing is per piece and you may use CAV stock Raku glazes. For those who do not have there own vessel, CAV has a collection for you to choose from at a very reasonable fee.

Laguna Clay Products

Clay Arts Vegas is proud to be a Laguna Clay distributor. Laguna Clay must be purchased through Clay Arts Vegas for all work created in the studio. Clays from outside sources are prohibited. Clay prices range from about $10 - $29 for 25lbs of clay. Please note that clays are designed for specific uses and firing temperatures, please ask one of our staff for assistance in getting the most out of your Laguna Clay.

Glazing and Firings

For all currently enrolled students, staff selected Cone 10 glazes, and the cost of firing is included in your tuition, ALL work must be done in the studio.  We also carry the full line of  Mid-range glazes (^5 & ^6), and an assortment of other Laguna low and mid range glazes, and Spectrum, available in store.

We do our best to fire Cone 10 as well as lower temperature firings on a regular basis,, Our goal is every ten days, this however varies based on the amount of work. If you need work fired quicker you can rent kiln time at CAV. All alternative and specialty firings will have an additional fee.  Please see our posted firing policies.
