We love beginners! Like any new skill, learning to work with clay takes time to develop the knowledge and techniques required to be successful. For this reason, we do not offer drop-in classes or one-time classes.

Getting started:

  1. Check our the class schedule and choose the class you would like to take and sign up for your first session. Remember that once you start your class fee is valid for one class per week for 8 consecutive weeks, and one (1) hour of Independent Studio time prior to class. We do not roll over classes or give credit for missed classes.

  2. On the day of your first class come to the studio about 20 - 30 minutes before the start time listed on your class booking so we can show you around and get your supplies for you. At this time you will be charged the $175 class fee plus the cost of your starter kit and first bag of clay (approx. $30).

  3. In addition to the $175 class fee, you will need to purchase a starter kit and a bag of clay at the studio on the day of your first lesson at an additional cost of approximately $30. The tools are yours to keep and you can purchase more clay any time, as needed.

  4. On the day of your class you can book your next time slot for the following week. You do not have to book your class for the same day every week! The class schedule is open for booking 1 week in advance and you must sign up for your time slot each week, even though you are in an 8-week session. (We know - this is different, but trust us - it works!)

    So, for example:
Week 1 you may want to book on Tuesday night, but in week 2 you may want to book your class for Saturday afternoon. This is fine by us! Your 1 class per week can be on any day that has availability and offers the class level appropriate for you.

  5. Make sure you come to class ready to get messy! You will probably want to bring a towel and/or apron. Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Helpful tips on choosing your first class:

  • Our on-going enrollment means you can start classes any time, but all the class fee is good for 8 consecutive weeks. It is not a punch card or a drop-in class.

  • For wheel-throwing class we suggest you sign up for class on Tuesday or Thursday evening, or Saturday afternoon. These are the days we have the most staff on hand to offer assistance and when most of our beginners start.

  • Hand-building classes are open to all levels.

And just to recap:

  • Your 8 week class package allows you to book one time slot per week for your class.

  • Missed classes can be made up as open studio time on Wednesdays. This is only valid during your 8-week session and does not roll over. This is not a class but coaches are available during this time.

  • This is not a drop-in class. We currently DO NOT offer drop-ins.

  • We suggest beginners start wheel-throwing classes on Tuesday or Thursday evening, or Saturday afternoon.
