CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
GENERAL INFORMATION
We love beginners! Like any new skill, learning to work with clay takes time to develop the knowledge and techniques required to be successful. For this reason, we do not offer drop-in classes or trial classes. Private lessons are available.
ADULT POTTERY CLASSES
All classes are project-based and designed for ages 16 and up. We love children, but we are an adult facility. Family Class and Clay Camp sessions are offered at times throughout the year so sign up for our newsletter or check our website to keep up to date on the latest class announcements.
We have pottery classes in both wheel-throwing and hand-building. Our classes are designed for all levels and will focus on construction techniques, glazing, and discussions on firing techniques.
You are responsible for your own tools, materials, and specialty items. All clay must be purchased from the studio. The store within the studio carries 65 clay bodies, hundreds of glazes and under-glazes, and a huge selection of unique tools to enhance your pottery experience.
Please understand that there are no refunds or exchanges on classes, workshops or firings.
This is not a drop-in class. We DO NOT offer drop-in classes.
INFORMATION FOR NEW STUDENTS & NON-MEMBERS
Getting started:
-
Create an account, otherwise you will not be able to register for the class.
-
Check out the class schedule and choose the class you would like to take and sign up for your first session. Remember that once you start your class fee is valid for one class per week for 8 consecutive weeks, and one (1) hour of Independent Studio time prior to class. We do not roll over classes or give credit for missed classes. Class fees are non-refundable.
-
In addition to the $185 class fee, you will need to purchase a starter kit and a bag of clay at the studio on the day of your first lesson at an additional cost of approximately $30. The tools are yours to keep and you can purchase more clay any time, as needed.
-
On the day of your first class come to the studio about 20 - 30 minutes before the start time listed on your class booking so we can show you around and get your supplies for you. At this time, you will be charged the $185 class fee plus the cost of your starter kit and first bag of clay (approx. $30).
-
On the day of your class, you can book your next time slot for the following week.
-
Make sure you come to class ready to get messy! You will probably want to bring a towel and/or apron. Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
-
Non-returning students will have 10 days, from the last class, to remove personal items. Your use of the studio will be terminated at the time of your last class session
-
Missed classes can be made up as independent studio time on Wednesdays or Fridays. This is only valid during your 8-week session and does not roll over. This is not a class but coaches are available during this time. Class fees are non-refundable.
Helpful tips on choosing your first class:
-
Our on-going enrollment means you can start classes any time, but all the class fee is good for 8 consecutive weeks from the date of your first class. It is not a punch card or a drop-in class.
-
For wheel-throwing class we suggest you sign up for class on Tuesday or Thursday evening, or Saturday afternoon. These are the days we have the most staff on hand to offer assistance and when most of our beginners start.
-
Hand-building classes are open to all levels.
