Class Information

Can I do just one class to see if I like it?

No. We love beginners! Like any new skill, learning to work with clay takes time to develop the knowledge and techniques required in order to be successful. For this reason, we do not offer drop-in classes or trial classes at this time.

What supplies will I need for class?

In addition to the class fee, you will need to purchase a starter kit and a bag of clay at the studio on the day of your first lesson at an additional cost of approximately $30. The tools are yours to keep and you can purchase more clay any time, as needed. You will need to bring your own apron and towel. Pottery is messy!

When can I start?

We offer open enrollment which means you can start your classes any time! We suggest beginners start wheel-throwing classes on Tuesday or Thursday evening, or Saturday afternoon. New hand-building students can start any time. Please see the current schedule for available class times.

What is included in my class fee?

As a non-member, your class fee includes 1 class per week for 8 consecutive weeks, 1 hour of independent studio prior to your class and basic cone 5 firings for work made in class/during independent studio.

Members receive the additional benefit of being able to attend 2 classes per week PLUS have access to
2 x 3-hour sessions of independent studio time.

What if I need extra time?

Non-members can attend independent studio on Wednesdays for an additional $10/session. Members have the added benefit of access to 2 x 3-hour sessions of independent studio time.

My work is made with cone 10 clay, not cone 5. Can I still get it fired?

Yes! Cone 10 firings can be added for an additional $2/piece. Firing fees must be paid in advance and the receipt must be attached to your work.

How long do I have to use my class package?

All packages must be used for 8-consecutive weeks. Missed classes do not roll over after the end of your 8-week session.

What happens when my session ends?

Returning students can pay their class fee at the start of each 8-week period.

Non-returning students will have 10 days, from the last class, to remove personal items. Your use of the studio will be terminated at the time of your last class session. This includes being able to have your work fired. However, work brought in after your last class can be fired for a separate additional fee per piece.

Can I enroll my child/teenager in pottery class?

All classes are project-based and designed for ages 16 and up. We love children, but we are an adult facility. To enroll a student under the age of 16 please refer to our afterschool camp schedule or contact us about our family classes.

What is your refund policy?

Please understand that there are no refunds or exchanges on classes, workshops or firings.

Purchasing Clay & Supplies

I’m a potter. Can I buy supplies from you?

YES! The store within the studio carries 65 clay bodies, hundreds of glazes and under-glazes, and a huge selection of unique tools to enhance your pottery experience. While we do not sell supplies online at this time, you may contact us at any time and our helpful staff will be happy to assist you.

Membership

How do I become a member?

Becoming a member is easy and is the best way to get the most out of your clay journey. To sign up you just need to pay your annual membership fee of just $250/year and then an on-going class fee of $140/8-week session. That’s right! Classes are cheaper for members. To sign up please contact us or talk to a member of staff the next time you are at the studio.

What are the benefits of membership?

Membership extends your privileges beyond the classroom. You will receive discounts on your 8-weeks sessions, workshop discounts, access to 2 classes per week, 6 hours of independent studio time and increased storage & firing allowance.

How long is my membership good for?

Membership is valid for 1 calendar year.
