Meet AMBER AGUIRRE

Clay Arts Vegas, the premier ceramic art school and gallery in Las Vegas is pleased to announce a weekend workshop featuring established ceramic artist Amber Aguirre. The theme of the workshop is Accentuate the Narrative, to be held September 24th and 25th. In it, Amber will show participants how she tells her story through her art as she helps students create their own narrative.

Amber is an American ceramic sculptor. She received a BFA in ceramics from the University of Southern California in 1981, an MA in art education from San Jose State University in 1990, and a master of library and information science degree from San Jose State University in 1996. She currently lives and works in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Amber is represented by top galleries in the field of ceramics. The Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center (Tel Aviv, Israel), the Hawaii State Art Museum, the Honolulu Museum of Art, the International Ceramics Studio (Kecscemet, Hungary), and the Kellogg Art Gallery (Cal Poly University, Pomona, California) are among the public collections holding works by Amber Aguirre.

Throughout the pandemic people have found themselves reexamining their lives and their choices. Many have found the practice of ceramics as a good way to express hopes, wants and disappointments while allowing the heart to feel the grounding that ceramics can give. “Having an artist of Aguirre’s stature here to show additional ways to create expression is a boon to our community.” (Pull quote from Peter?)

Aguirre will have several pieces available for viewing (and purchase) prior to and after the workshop.
